Shallow Graves: Chapter 1 With a sharp breath and a swift clenching of her fingers she readied her rifle, the sweat of her palms sliding across the handle and causing her grip to shift. Through the strictly painted cross hairs of her scope she aimed lethally at the head of a groaning, shuffling figure. The bone of its rotted cheeks gleamed dully in the pale light of the moon and she shuddered as she watched it part its mouth to utter yet another moan. Suddenly, with a twitch of her fingers she let loose a hissing bullet with a swift bang. It soared through the air for a split second before making contact with the skull of the lumbering dead.
